Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin visits Vanya Voronov

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has visited Vanya Voronov who was severely wounded in shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces in Donbass.

The Investigative Committee has been patronizing the boy since the very first day, when Doctor Liza took the mutilated boy from Donbass plagued by civilian war. For a long time Vanya was treated at the Research Institute for Emergency Children’s Surgery and Traumatology headed by Leonid Roshal.

Mr. Bastrykin was very glad that after a lot of times when he had to visit the boy in a hospital ward he now can see him more often at home: “Each time we come to visit Vanya we are very glad to see his success, cheerfulness, optimism, sense of humor and youthful ardor.”

“This boy an incredible desire to live and be happy! He has endured a lot of troubles and sufferings, but they did not harden his heart or soul in any way. And today, only a month after a most complicated eye surgery, Vanya is happy that he finally is able to see all the beauty of this world. Because of his wounds, Vanya was almost completely blind. We asked best foreign specialists if there was any hope that he would be able to see again. All of them shook their heads in reply… only doctors at the Academician Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Hospital were not scared and worked a miracle!”, the Chairman said.

He especially thanked outstanding professionals – doctors of the Academician Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Hospital for giving Vanya Voronov a precious gift – the happiness of seeing.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Bastrykin expressed his confidence that Vanya will have enough force, courage and desire to cope with all hardships, hold out and live full life.
