Alexander Bastrykin pays respects to legendary space pilot, twice hero of Soviet Union Georgy Grechko

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has paid respects to the legendary space pilot, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Georgy Grechko.

His name occupies one of the most important lines in the history of the Soviet and Russian cosmonautics and has become an impressive example of devoted service to his homeland. Artistic and dedicated, wonderfully committed and brave, he devoted all his life to making a dream come true. A dream about space…

A talented engineer, explorer and scientist, Mr. Grechko was an example for many generations of young cosmonauts not only in Russia, but way beyond its borders. Thanks to his unique talent to explain difficult things in a very easy and understandable way, the whole country watched TV show This Fantastic World he hosted.

This is a great loss for the Investigative Committee, too, as having been an active citizen Mr. Grechko was an honored member of the Civic Council under the Investigative Committee and a member of the Heroes Council. Attending our events he shared his life experience, gave valuable advice to our employees, including that regarding patriotic education of the younger generation and was never indifferent to the problems of others.

Memory about Georgy Grechko will stay in our hearts forever. We will miss his kind smile and warmth he generously shared with people!
