In Novgorod Region, employees of Russian Investigative Committee honor investigator, who died on duty

Employees of the Central Office of the Russian Investigation Committee together with employees of the Novgorod Region Office of the Investigative Committee has honored the Senior Investigator of the Borovichsky Inter-District Office of the Investigative Committee by laying flowers onto his grave.

Sergei Vasyukovich was one of the selfless employees of the Russian Investigative Committee, who died on duty. In 2010, he was attached to the investigative group on the North Caucasus. On 3 March 2010 he was killed in action in the settlement of Ekazhevo, Nazran District of Ingushetia, during special operation dedicated to detention of a gang headed by Alexander Tihkomirov, also known by alias of Said Buryatsky.

On 30 April 2010, by Order of the Russian President, Sergei Vasyukovich was posthumously awarded Order of Courage.

The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee during meetings with the parents of Sergei Vasyukovich numerously expressed his gratitude for merited upbringing of their son. Employees of the Central Office of the Russian Investigative Committee thanked his parents today once again, who at the cost of his own life defended law and justice. The parents of Sergei Vasyukovich in turn expressed their appreciation for rendered support and attention.

The Russian Investigative Committee will continue supporting the family of the killed investigator.
