The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings against a 38-year-old local resident suspected of causing grievous bodily harm to a minor under Part 2, item “b” of Article 111 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, on the afternoon of 16 June 2017, a man was lulling his friend’s baby in his arms outside a residential building in Sovetskaya Street in the town of Balashikha. He had a row with the suspect standing on his balcony on the third floor of the building. During the row the suspect threw a lighter at the man on the street but hit the baby’s head instead. The baby was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a closed head injury.

By now the suspect has been detained and is being interrogated. He is expecting a restraint. The investigation is ongoing.
