Investigation in leaving baby in hot car in Tomsk under control at Investigative Committee’s Central Office

On 26 June 2017, some passersby noticed a crying baby in a car parked on the sunny side of Pushkin Street near a shopping mall in the town of Tomsk. The boy was 8-9 months by sight, he was wet and red because of the heat and was crawling on the front seat crying. The passersby could not find the owner of the car for a long time, so they decided to smash the window and take the baby out. When they got the baby they took him to the shopping mall and gave some water to drink. Soon enraged father of the baby appeared, took the baby away, threw him on the front seat and took off.

Investigation in the incident opened by regional police department in endangerment under Article 125 of the RF Criminal Code has been taken over by the Tomsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee.

The investigation has been taken under control by the Investigative Committee’s Central Office.

The investigators are going to question eyewitnesses of the incident, carry out investigative operations to identify the endangering factors as the boy was left for a long time in the car, weather conditions and other circumstances. They will also order a forensic medical examination to find out if the boy suffered any bodily harm while being locked in the car under the said condition.
