The Krasnoyarsk Territory Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in mine works safety breach entailing death of two or more people under Part 3 of Article 216 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, about 11:30 AM on 7 July 2017, a gas explosion happened in Zapolyarny mine killing and injuring several people. More than 100 people were evacuated. It is possible that it was a methane explosion. The victims are being identified.

At present, a postmortem has been ordered to find out cause of death. A number of necessary investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
