In Sverdlovsk Region, charges pressed against two in sexual abuse of girl and negligence

The Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues the investigation of two cases opened in sexual connection with a person under 14 years of age under Part 3 of Article 134 and negligence under part 1 of Article 293 of the RF Criminal Code. The first case was opened after law-enforcers learnt that a 13-year-old girl gave birth to a baby in April 2017. The second investigation was opened because the investigators believe that officials of children’s crime prevention authorities aware that there was no proper control over the said minor by her legal representatives failed to take steps to protect her rights and legal interests, basically putting her in a socially dangerous position.

Considering all the evidence gathered, the investigators have pressed charges against two people today.

The charges of sexual connection with a person under 14 years of age

Was pressed against a 20-year-old resident of the city of Yekaterinburg against whom the investigators have evidence that he committed the crime in 2016. More details about personality of the accused and circumstances surrounding the crime are not being disclosed for the interests of the underage victim.

The charges of negligence were pressed against the 57-year-old headmistress of the school the girl attended. According to investigators, the woman aware that there was no proper control over the girl by her legal representatives failed to take steps to protect the teenager’s rights and legal interests. Moreover, when the headmistress learnt that the girl was pregnant, she did not report it to competent bodies.

Following order of the head of the Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee the two cases were withdrawn from the territorial investigative department because of a lot of investigative operations needed and were passed on to the Sverdlovsk Region Office for further inquiry. An investigative team keeps on carrying out operations necessary to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crimes, to gather and document evidence. They have questioned more than 30 witnesses and ordered forensic expert examinations (DNA, psychiatric), which are now being run. They have also searched a number of children’s crime prevention authority’s offices and conducted seizures there. The investigations continue.
