Alexander Bastrykin orders Central Office to supervise checks and investigations in incidents reported by media

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has ordered the Central Office to supervise checks and investigations in a number of incidents reported by mass media.

Mass media reported that a 14-year-old player of the Volgograd Region water polo team had died during the second tour of the Russia Cup in Nizhny Novgorod Region. No paramedics were reported to have worked at the competition. The Nizhny Novgorod Region Office of the Investigative Committee is running a check at the moment.

A TV channel also showed a story about residents of the town of Bui, Kostroma Region getting brown and smelly water from their water taps. Though they pay bills for water, they still have to buy bottled water. The Kostroma Region Office of the Investigative Committee is now looking into the incident.

The first major cases department of the Northwestern Transport Office of the Investigative Committee is investigating violation of aircraft traffic safety and operation entailing death of more than two people under Part 3 of Article 263 of the RF Criminal Code after a hard landing of an Antonov An-2 plane en route from the town of Naryan-Mar to the settlement of Kharuta. Media reported that 11 people were injured in and three more were killed in the crash, including a child.

A 2-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy were reported killed due to medical malpractice in hospitals in Chelyabinsk Region. Investigators of the regional investigative authority launched two investigations in reckless homicide due to malpractice under Part 2 of Article 109 of the RF Criminal Code.

An incident in Perm Territory was discussed on TV the other day. An elderly woman organized a kind of shelter for ex-convicts and homeless people abusing alcohol. The Perm Territory Office of the Investigative Committee is now conducting an investigation in a crime under Part 1 of Article 238 of the RF Criminal Code.

The Chairman ordered corresponding divisions to control the checks and investigations into the said incidents by organizing proper operations in the shortest time.
