In Krasnodar Territory, director of travelling circus detained as predator attacked child at their performance

The Krasnodar Regional Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues to investigate into unsafe services endangering life and health at a circus performance, entailed a lioness causing bodily harm to a minor girl (Paragraph B of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia). As part of the investigation, a 51-year-old director of the travelling circus was detained.

According to the investigation, on October 28, the lioness had attacked the 4-year-old girl sitting in the front row, through a fence, during the travelling circus performance featuring wild animals in Uspenskoe rural settlement. As a result, the child had been taken to a hospital with facial lacerations and other injuries. She is currently receiving medical care.

Preventive detention of the circus director is being considered; all documents have been seized and are being studied by the investigator to determine whether the man had the necessary permissions to carry out this type of activity. The investigative actions are being taken required to define all the circumstances of the committed offense. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
