The Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia to supervise process of investigation into an exhausted girl discovered in Orel Region

The Orel Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation launched a probe into the misconduct of neglect and juvenile delinquency prevention system officials under Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of Russia (neglect of duty).  

According to investigation, the family upbringing eight minor children lived in Orel District of Orel Region in improper living conditions, however, prevention system authorities failed to take timely measures to protect rights and legal interests of the minors, therefore an 11-year-old girl was delivered to Orel hospital in extremely malnourished condition.      

At present, children had been removed from this family and placed in specialized institutions. The process of investigation of this probe is under supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia. During investigation, a legal assessment will be given to actions of the mother of the children.

Investigators are carrying out investigative actions aimed to establish all circumstances of the accidents including arrangement of required forensic examinations, and interrogation of authorities, medical workers, relatives and acquaintances of the family. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
