The evidence collected by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russiawas found by court to be sufficient to sentence former Deputy Chairman of Irkutsk Regional Court Nikolay Novokreschenov. He was found guilty of committing two offenses under Part 4 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of Russia (bribery).
The investigation and the court established that in 2017 Novokreshchenov received, through an intermediary, two bribes totaling 200 thousand rubles for making decisions to cancel decisions of lower judges and terminate proceedings in cases of administrative offenses under Part 1 of Art. 12.26 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure by the driver of the vehicle to comply with the legal requirement to undergo a medical examination for intoxication) and Part 1 of Art. 12.8 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (driving while intoxicated) in relation to two persons.
The Supreme Qualification Collegium of Judges of the Russian Federation satisfied the submission of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation to give consent to initiate a criminal case against Novokreschenov, by the appeal ruling of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation this decision was left unchanged and entered into force.
The court sentenced Novokreschenov to 6 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony and a fine of 5 million rubles.
