The day before the mass media placed video and a publication about an incident at the Eternal Glory memorial in Syktyvkar involving teenagers, who put out the Eternal Flame. The Komi Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia organized an initial inquiry into this matter.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the head of the Komi Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to carefully examine all circumstances and reasons of the incident, to carry out a set of assessment measures and to immediately launch a probe upon results of the initial inquiry if there are grounds.
