The evidence gathered by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by court to be sufficient to sentence a group of residents of Penza Region. Nikolay Yurchenko, Pavel Yanenko and 25 other perpetrators, depending on the role of each, were found guilty of committing offenses under Article 212 (participation in mass riots) and Parts 1,4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Russia (infliction of severe health damage, including this entailing by negligence death of a victim).
Investigation and the court established that on June 2019 the perpetrators, using an insignificant pretext, committed riots in the village, accompanied by violence and pogroms. In doing this the attackers used axes, bats, fittings and other objects dangerous to the surrounding area. As a result of the illegal actions 21 local residents received various injuries, including severe. One of the victims died from the wounds in a medical facility. Apart from that, several cars were damaged.
During investigation none of the accused admitted his guilt in the committed offenses. In that, the investigation gathered a set of evidence proving their involvement in the offenses. Along with the testimony of numerous witnesses from among the residents of the village, these are the results of examinations, material evidence and other data.
The court sentenced Nikolay Yurchenko and Pavel Yanenko to 10 and 7 years of imprisonment respectively in a strict regime penal colony, 25 other accomplices were sentenced to 2-3 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony.
