The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed heads of investigative departments for the Republic of Buryatia and Karachay-Cherkessia Republic to report on all circumstances of incidents with children.
On July 2021 a body of a 14-year-old girl with signs of violent death was discovered in a hallway of an apartment house in Cherkessk. The Karachay-Cherkessia Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder). A suspect - local resident with a previous criminal record - was detained; the issue of his placement into custody is being decided upon. The motives and reasons for the incident are being established.
Another incident occurred in the Republic of Buryatia where in the evening of June 14, 2021 a body of a 1-year-old child with multiple stab wounds on the chest, neck, and head was discovered in a house in Ilyinka settlement. The Buryatia Republican Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into this matter under Paragraph С of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia. Under the probe investigators are checking versions of involvement to the murder of the child his 45-year-old grandmother or 36-year-old previously convicted cohabitant who were abusing alcohol, and a version of involvement of other villagers that could freely enter the dwelling and commit the offense.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia put the investigation of the probes under supervision of the Central Office and instructed to thoroughly establish all causes and conditions that facilitated the committing of the offenses.
