The Novosibirsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe against a 46-year-old resident of the city of Chelyabinsk on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 Article 318 of the Criminal Code (use of violence against a government official).

According to investigators, the suspect, being in a state of intoxication, struck the head, neck and torso of a police inspector performing his duties on September 30 in the premises of the duty department of the linear department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at Tolmachevo airport.

 At present, a set of investigative activities aimed to establish circumstances of the incident is being carried out with regard to the probe.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the acting head of Novosibirsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, A.N. Badulin to present a report on the progress of the investigation.

The progress of investigation of the probe is under the supervision of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
