The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requests a report into the progress of investigation of a criminal case into the murder of Alexander Petrov, deputy of the Vyborg District of the Leningrad Region

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to report on the progress of the criminal investigation into the murder of Alexander Petrov, a deputy of the Vyborg district of Leningrad Region.

Previously, upon instructions of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin, the criminal case for the murder by hire of deputy of the Vyborg district of the Leningrad Region Alexander Petrov (Paragraph H of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code) for the most rapid, complete and objective investigation was transferred to the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to investigators, in the evening hours of October 24, 2020 an unidentified person fired a shot from a firearm from the opposite bank of the river at 61-year-old Alexander Petrov, who was in the territory of his house near Vyborg in the Leningrad Region.

Investigators and forensic specialists of the Investigative Committee of Russia seized items and documents of significance for the investigation in the course of examination of the scene. Necessary examinations were appointed.

The criminal investigation continues.
