The Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into Valery Rashkin, suspected of illegal hunting in Saratov Region

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated criminal proceedings against the deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valery Rashkin on the grounds of the crime provided by Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code (illegal hunting).

The investigation established that on the night of October 28-29, 2021 on the territory of the hunting estate "Lebedka" in Saratov Region, Rashkin armed with a carbine belonging to him and together with other people, not having a permit for production of hunting resources, performed search, tracking down and catching of elk. Having killed the wild animal, Rashkin took measures to conceal his weapon, after which the accomplices made primary processing of the killed elk using knives and an axe they had with them. They put parts of the cut carcass into the luggage compartment and saloon of the car "Lada Largus" and then left the place of hunting. Subsequently, the car was stopped by an employee of the committee for hunting and fishing of the Saratov Region, which revealed the fact of illegal hunting of wild animals.

Earlier, based on the materials collected by the investigation, the State Duma gave its consent to deprive Rashkin of deputy immunity and initiate a criminal case against him.

Necessary investigative measures are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
