Chairman of the IC of Russia Instructs to Initiate Criminal Case on Illegal Criminal Prosecution of Russian Journalist

Today it became known that a Lviv court arrested Russian journalist and TV presenter Vladimir Rudolfovich Solovyov in absentia. Information about this was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine. The restriction measure was imposed due to the petition filed by the investigator for particularly important cases of the Main Investigative Department of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to media reports, the Russian journalist is accused of “making public calls to change the state border of Ukraine.”

This criminal case is another attempt to illegally hold Russian citizens criminally liable.

Taking into account the above, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation instructed the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia to initiate a criminal case against Ukrainian officials who made these procedural decisions on a possible crime under Article 299 of the Criminal Code (holding an obviously innocent person criminally liable or illegal initiation of a criminal case) and Article 301 of the Criminal Code (illegal detention, arrest or holding in custody), as well as to conduct investigative actions aimed at obtaining and documenting evidence within the criminal case.
