Criminal Case Initiated on Sabotage at Avdeevka Coke Plant

The Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia initiated a criminal case regarding illegal actions of Ukrainian troops directed against the civilian population of the Donetsk People's Republic. The Ukrainian nationalists' actions show signs of a crime under Article 356 of the Criminal Code (the use of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation in an armed conflict).

According to the investigators, on March 13, 2022, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian military formations, while on the territory of the Avdeevka Coke Plant in the DPR, set fire to one of the workshops with the aim of mass poisoning of the population. Its premises house a highly toxic production of the first hazard class, which makes 30 types of coke and chemical products from coal dust and coke oven gas. As a result of the sabotage, one of the workshops producing highly toxic chemical products caught fire; toxic smoke spread to adjacent settlements.

The investigators believes that the Ukrainian nationalists followed obviously criminal orders of higher commanders and officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Just as before, their crime was motivated by political and ideological hatred and enmity towards the people of the DPR, who decided to proclaim an independent sovereign state by withdrawing from Ukraine.

Investigation of all the circumstances of the incident, as well as Ukrainian nationalists involved in the organization and execution of this crime, continues.
