The IC of Russia Has Initiated Criminal Cases Against the Military Personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Over the Use of Prohibited Means And Methods of Warfare

The Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated two criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare in an armed conflict), in relation to servicemen of the 24th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yevgen Kurash, Serhiy Postupalsky, Roman Mamavko, Mykola Yanchey; the 25th separate paratrooper brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Kachanov, Roman Zabrodsky, Andriy Tkachuk, Dmytro Chernichenko, Emil Ishkulov, Volodymyr Kapitula, the 30th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Zinevich, Mykola Perestupnyak, the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Dovbich, Serhiy Sirchenko, Dmytro Gerasimenko, Vyacheslav Bugaichuk, Oleksandr Bondarenko, Miroslav Verkhovy , Artem Puchkov, Gennady Boyko.

According to the investigators, in the period from June 21 to 22, 2022, these servicemen gave and executed criminal orders for targeted artillery attacks from heavy weapons on civilian infrastructure in the cities of Donetsk, Makeyevka, Gorlovka, Torez, Yasinovataya and the settlements of Vladimirovka, Nikitovka, Kirovo , Pavlovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic, as well as in the cities of Lisichansk, Zymogorye and the settlement of Yekaterinovka of the Lugansk People’s Republic.

The shelling of the cities of Donetsk, Makeyevka, Gorlovka, Torez and Yasinovataya, as well as the settlements of Vladimirovka, Nikitovka, Kirovo and Pavlovka of the DPR killed two civilians, injured 13, including three minor, damaged 41 buildings and civilian infrastructure facilities, including the buildings of a kindergarten and two schools.

The artillery attacks on the cities of Lisichansk and Zimogorye, as well as the settlement of Yekaterinovka in the LPR  injured two civilians and damaged two residential buildings.

Also, 11 civilians who were injured as a result of artillery shelling in June 2022 turned to hospitals in the Lugansk People’s Republic for medical help.

The IC of Russia continues to establish units of the Ukrainian armed formations and identify specific servicemen of these units involved in the shelling of civilians.
