The Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated two criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare in an armed conflict), in relation to servicemen of the 24^th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yevgen Kurash, Serhiy Postupalsky, Roman Mamavko, Mykola Yanchey; the 25^th separate paratrooper brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Kachanov, Roman Zabrodsky, Andriy Tkachuk, Dmytro Chernichenko, Emil Ishkulov, Volodymyr Kapitula; the 30^th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Zinevich, Mykola Perestupnyak; the 56^th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Dovbich, Serhiy Sirchenko, Dmytro Gerasimenko, Vyacheslav Bugaichuk, Oleksandr Bondarenko, Miroslav Verkhovy, Artem Puchkov, Gennady Boyko.

According to the investigators, from June 19 to June 20, 2022, these servicemen gave and carried out criminal orders for targeted artillery attacks from heavy weapons on civilian infrastructure in the cities of Donetsk, Gorlovka, Makeyevka and the town of Lesnoy, the Donetsk People’s Republic, as well as in the cities of Pervomaisk, Popasnaya, Irmino, Stakhanov, Krasny Luch and the town of Kalinovo, the Lugansk People’s Republic.

The shelling of the cities of Donetsk, Gorlovka, Makeyevka, as well as the town of Lesnoy, the DPR, injured eight civilians, killed three civilians, damaged31 buildings and civilian infrastructure facilities.

The artillery attacks on the cities of Pervomaisk, Popasnaya, Irmino, Stakhanov and Krasny Luch, as well as the town of Kalinovo, the LPR, injured two civilians, damaged 25 residential buildings and civilian infrastructure facilities, including the buildings of two schools and a kindergarten.

In addition, three civilians who were injured as a result of artillery shelling of the city of Severodonetsk in June 2022 turned to the hospitals of the Lugansk People’s Republic for medical help.

The IC of Russia continues to establish units of the Ukrainian armed formations and identify specific servicemen of these units involved in the shelling of civilians.
