A Resident of Vladimir Oblast Has Been Found Guilty of Committing Violent Crimes Against Minors

The evidence collected by the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia has been recognized by the court as sufficient to pass a sentence in a criminal case against Dmitry Kopylov. He has been found guilty of committing a number of episodes of crimes under Paragraph b, Part 4, Article 132 (violent acts of a sexual nature committed against a person under the age of 14), Paragraph e, Part 2, Article 126 (kidnapping of a minor), Paragraphs a, d, Part 2, Article 242.1  (circulation of pornographic images of minors), Paragraph c, Part 2, Article 242.2 (use of a minor for the purpose of making pornographic materials), Part 1, Article 325.1 (illegal possession of the state registration plate of a vehicle), Part 1, Article 326 (forgery of the vehicle identification number)  of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The investigators and the court have established that in 2014, 2015 and 2019, while in the city of Suzdal, Vladimir Oblast, Kopylov committed sodomy and other sexual acts against a young boy, taking photographs and videos in order to produce materials with pornographic images of the latter, as well as their subsequent storage and distribution.

In addition, on August 5, 2020, in the village of Ivakino, Kovrovsky Raion, Vladimir Oblast, Kopylov unlawfully took possession of a state registration plate of a vehicle for its subsequent use in the abduction of a minor victim. After that, in September 2020, in one of the settlements of Kameshkovsky Raion of Vladimir Oblast, using a Renault Logan vehicle with a deliberately false state registration plate placed on it, he kidnapped a young boy, whom he then kept in his private house and committed against him other acts of a sexual nature up to the moment of a search conducted there in November 2020, as a result of which the latter was released. In addition, the defendant carried out photo and video shooting in order to produce materials with pornographic images of the victim, as well as their subsequent storage and distribution.

During the investigation, Kopylov confessed to the circumstances of the crimes he was charged with. In addition to his confession, guilt in the charge brought against him has been confirmed by the totality of evidence collected in the criminal case, including the results of searches conducted at his place of residence and stay, an examination of the computer and camera system unit that he used, the testimony of the victims and their legal representatives, as well as other evidence.

Taking into account the presence of the disease and the disability group, the court verdict sentenced Kopylov to imprisonment for a term of 19 years and 11 months, to be served in a strict regime colony with restriction of his freedom for a term of 1 year and 10 months.
