Check into death of fire-fighting paratroopers in Tuva Republic

On 6 June 2012, the Tuva Republic investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee received information that paratroopers of parachute fire-fighting service of Tuva airbase who participated in fighting the fire in 20 km away from the village Kara-Khol in Bai-Taiginsky district. The investigating bodies of Tuva Republic Investigations Directorate are taking pre-investigative check into the fact.

According to investigators, 13 paratroopers were sent to fight the fire. During the operation the fire intensified due to wind. One paratrooper perished, the faith of others is unknown.

At present, an investigating task force of the Tuva Republic Investigations Directorate set off to find out all circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made following the results of the check.
