Investigation of case against former deputy chief of pre-trial prison where Sergey Magnitsky had been held completed

Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigation of a criminal case against former deputy medical head of pre-trial prison (federal budget institution pre-trial prison-77/2 of Moscow Federal Service for the Execution of Sentences) Dmitry Kratov. He is charged with a crime under part 2 of article 293 of the RF Criminal Code (neglect of duty inflicting by negligence the death of a person).

According to investigators Kratov failed to provide proper medical assistance to people held in prison. In 2009 it resulted in death of Sergey Magnitsky taken to this prison.

Investigators have gathered enough evidence therefore the case is sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office to consider the approval of the bill of particulars and its further forwarding to the court to be tried on the merits.

The criminal case against Dmitry Kratov was separated from that against other individuals which is still being investigated.
