Moscow Inter-Regional Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has completed investigating a criminal case against a 28-year-old citizen of USA Elnar Zarbail. He is charged with a crime under part 1 of article 194 of the RF Criminal Code (evasion of customs payments collected from natural person committed on a large scale).

According to investigators, on 3 July 2012, Zarbail arrived in the airport of Domodedovo from Geneva, Switzerland, where crossing the customs border of the customs union he took a special passage – “green corridor” for passengers (natural persons) who don’t have goods subject to obligatory written declaration. There he was stopped for customs control. During personal customs search a customs officer found a watch Chopard, the market price of which at the Russian domestic market is more than 18 million rubles. This way he evaded paying customs duties of 2 million 984 thousand rubles.

The investigators have collected enough evidence and the case with the approved indictment is accordingly forwarded to the court to be tried on the merits.
