Lawyer Volkova repeatedly summoned for questioning relating to criminal proceedings into events of 6 May on Bolotnaya Ploshchad

A lawyer Violetta Volkova was repeatedly called in the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee to be questioned as a witness over the criminal proceedings into organization and participation in mass riots on 6 May on Bolotnaya Ploshchad in Moscow accompanied by use of violence against representatives of the authority.

The necessity of repeated questioning is explained by the fact that the investigators have videos showing that on 6 May 2012 she participated in the rally on Bolotnaya Ploshchad and was one of the organizers of the event. Namely, the picture from the rally shows that Volkova was wearing a badge ORGANIZER. But executive authorities had not received any information that V. Volkova was an organizer of the rally. Thus, investigators are interested only in the information received by Volkova as a result of her personal participation in the events of 6 May.

It should be noted that in accordance with paragraph 1 of part 6 of article 56 of the Russian Federation Criminal Procedure Code a witness has no right to evade investigator’s summons. In case the person did not show up without any reasonable excuse the person summoned can be subject to bringing or other measures of procedural constraint.
