In Nizhny Novgorod Region former judge of Arbitrage suspected of preparing for bribe-taking on a large scale

Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched criminal proceedings against former judge of Arbitrage of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. He is suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 30, paragraph “b” of part 5 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (preparing for taking a large-scale bribe).

According to investigators, in November 2010, judge of Arbitrage of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, considering a statement of claim of a sole proprietor against Nizhny Novgorod administration on recognizing the right of ownership on unauthorized structures, demanded from him a bribe of 300 thousand rubles to be given through a mediator. Trying to conceal the fact of bribery he involved his wife, who was to pretend an expert and receive the money from the proprietor. However, the businessman refused to give a bribe.

The criminal case is in the proceedings of the Nizhny Novgorod Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.

At present investigating and search operations are underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime. Investigation is to be continued.
