Criminal proceedings launched against head and two officials of the Volga Federal District Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources

Volga Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched criminal proceedings against head of the Volga Federal District Department of Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources, Igor Lola and other officials over signs of a crime under article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (bribe-taking be an organized group). The basis for the proceedings became materials of search and investigation activity of the Volga Federal District Main Directorate of the Russia’s ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to investigators, senior officials of Department of Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources many times received illegal fees through a mediator for positive conclusions of the state ecological expert examination of landfills for solid domestic waste and for measures to annul the license of the competing organization. The total sum of bribes amounts to more than 5 million rubles.

At present searches are underway at Department premises and flats of the involved.

Following the results of the first investigating operations decisions will be made on detention of the suspects, charges against them and pre-trial restraining measure. Investigation is to be continued.
