Progress of investigating a criminal case over wreck of Bulgaria cruise vessel

Today Tatarstan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee filed a motion to the court on extending arrest terms until 10 February 2013 for Svetlana Inyakina, Yakov Ivashov, Irek Timergazeyev and Vladislav Semyonov.

We remind that there are five people under prosecution – captain’s mate Ramil Khametov, subcontractor of Bulgaria Inyakina, expert of Russian River Register Ivashov and two employees of Rostransnadzor Temirgazeyev and Semyonov. Depending on the role of each one, they are charged with crimes under articles 238, 263, 143 and 285 of the RF Criminal Code (rendering of services which do not meet safety standards, violation of the rules for traffic safety and operation of inner river transport, violation of labor protection rules and abuse of official powers).

According to investigators it is the joint actions of the accused that caused the cruise vessel Bulgaria to wreck on 10 July 2011 in Kuybyshevsky reservoir where 122 people were killed.

Earlier the term for investigation had been prolonged until 10 March 2013.

Currently the accused continue reading the materials of the case which they started on 7 June 2012. Not long before that over 200 victimes had finished reading more than 90 volumes of the case.
