Criminal proceedings launched in Kamchatka Territory over not taking measures to clear up the bus stop where a car accident happened the day before

Kamchatka Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched criminal proceedings into not taking measures to clear up snow at Krasnaya Sopka bus stop in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky over signs of a crime under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 238 of the RF Criminal Code (fulfillment of works which do not meet safety standards of safety to lives or health of consumers involving by negligence grave injury).

According to investigators, in the morning on 24 December 2012 municipal unitary institution Spetsdorremstroy, contractor under municipal contract on servicing roads in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky did not take proper measures to execute the contract obligations by not clearing up Krasnaya Sopka bus stop from snow, which prevented people from standing there. As a result the people waiting for the bus had to stand on the road, where Toyota Chaser with a 28-year-old man at the wheel ran over 11 people inflicting by negligence grave injury to health of two of them.

At present a number of investigating operations are underway to establish all the circumstances of crime. In addition, actions of officials of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city district administration and those of law enforcement agents responsible for controlling the state of motorways in the city will be classified.
