Following the decision of the senior officials of the Investigative Committee a criminal case over murder of Chancellor of Kabardino-Balkar State Agricultural Academy Boris Zherukov has been passed for investigation to North Caucasus Federal District Investigations Directorate.

An investigating group has been set up to investigate this case. A group of experienced investigators from the Central Office of the Investigative Committee has been sent to Kabardino-Balkaria to assist. At present investigating and search operations are underway to establish all the circumstances of the murder and persons involved. Investigators are considering several versions of the murder, including the Chancellor’s professional activity. It is not ruled out that the crime was committed by members of illegal armed groups acting on the territory of the republic.

As it had been reported earlier, on 25 December 2012, around 11 a.m.in Nalchik two unknown persons entered the office of Boris Zherukov, Chancellor of V.M. Kokov Kabardino-Balkaria State Agricultural Academy and shot him dead in head from 9 mm guns. Zherukov was also Head of faction United Russia in the parliament of Kabardino-Balkaria. Investigation is to be continued.

The Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has taken investigation under personal control.
