Investigative Committee established deputies Konstantin Shirshov’s and Oleg Mikheyev’s involvement in crime

During investigation and procedural check the Investigative Committee has established that State Duma deputies Konstantin Shirshov and Oleg Mikheyev were involved in the crime.

Moscow Main Investigations Directorate is investigating a criminal case over attempted swindling with the purpose to steal money from a businessman, from whom the perpetrators were demanding 7.5 million euros for promising a mandate of State Duma Deputy. Investigators have got information that deputy Konstantin Shirshov was involved in the crime. According to investigators, Shirshov acting in together with Vadim Gurzhiya, Vladimir Myasin and Leonid Karagod, on 7 July 2011 received from the businessman 66 million rubles as a part of the sum demanded for the promise to put him in the federal list of candidates to State Duma deputies of 6th convocation. Myasin and Karagod have already been convicted and the criminal case against Gurzhiya is being listened in court.

In addition, the Main Investigations Directorate based on the results of procedural check into illegal misappropriation of 14 real estate objects of Volgograd engine engineering plant worth more than 500 million rubles, attempted fraudulent stealing of 2.1 billion rubles of Promsvyazbank and prevention of justice, has established involvement of deputy Oleg Mikheyev in the said crimes.

In connection with the fact that special order of prosecution should be applied to State Duma deputies, the Russia’s Investigative Committee has sent to the RF Prosecutor General’s Office necessary documents to submit to State Duma of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation representations requesting deprive Shirshov and Mikheyev their immunity and consent on their prosecution.
