Another criminal case opened against Leonid Razvozzhayev

Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has carried out a pre-investigation check into the claim by Razvozzhayev that he was subjected to tortures by an investigator of the investigating group of the Main Investigations Directorate in a basement of a residential house in the period between 19 and 21 October 2012. Razvozzhayev made this allegation on 12 December during a process in presence of media and other people in Moscow Basmanny court.

Knowing that the Investigative Committee had already checked information that he had been tortured reported by media and himself and knowing that the information had not been confirmed in which connection in November 2012 the Committee refused to initiate a criminal case due to absence of criminal event, Razvozzhayev deliberately continued spreading knowingly false information about the investigator. Besides his allegation made in Basmanny court, Razvozzhayev on 14 January 2013 in presence of lawyers in pretrial detention center of Angarsk, Irkutsk Region, in spite of being warned on criminal liability for knowingly false denunciation continued to assert that he had been tortured by the investigator of the Investigative Committee.

Based on the results of the procedural check Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched criminal proceedings against Leonid Razvozzhayev over signs of a crime under part 2 of article 306 of the RF Criminal Code (knowingly false denunciation).
