Criminal proceedings launched into slander on chairperson of Chelyabinsk Region court

The Urals Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched criminal proceedings into slander against chairperson of Chelyabinsk Region Fyodor Vyatkin over signs of a crime under part 5 of article 128.1 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, on 8 December 2012, unknown persons deliberately organized dissemination of knowingly false information that Fyodor Vyatkin had committed a number of serious and especially serious crimes and other false information discrediting his honor and dignity with the purpose to undermine judge Vyatkin’s reputation before the Supreme Qualifying Board of Judges of the Russian Federation considered issuing recommendations to extend term of office of chairperson of Chelyabinsk Region court.

Actions of persons, who had organized dissemination and disseminated knowingly false information, defaming his honor, dignity and reputation of Fyodor Vyatkin were qualified as slander combined with accusations of serious and especially serious crimes.

At present searches are taking place in administration of the Chelyabinsk Region in cooperation with the Chelyabinsk Region Directorate of FSB. Other investigating operations are also under way to establish all the circumstances of the crime and persons involved.
