A man held in Tatarstan on suspicions of killing small Vasilisa Galitsyna

The Republic of Tatarstan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have detained a 30-year-old Uzbekistan citizen living in Naberezhnye Chelny on suspicions of killing 8-year-old Vasilisa Galitsyna (paragraph “b” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code).

Investigators have found that the fingerprints found on the girl’s things belonged to the suspect. Investigators identified the suspect. Witnesses pointed out that saw the suspect with the girl on 2 February. Investigators also found and examined the suspect’s car. They believe that it was the car he might have used to take away the victim. Now the investigating operations with participation of the suspect are underway and necessary expert examinations are set. Measures are being taken to find the victim.

In the near future investigators are going to file a motion asking to put the suspect into custody as a pretrial restraining measure. In addition they are going to check the legality of migration card issued to the suspect.

Vasilisa Galitsyna got missing on 2 February 2013 in the town of Naberezhnye Chelny. In the evening of 3 February the girl’s schoolbag, hat and an element of clothes were found 6-7 km away from her school. Later her school diary and books were found near this place. Investigation is to be continued.
