First deputy governor of Novgorod Region charged with official crimes and stealing federal funds allocated on road building

Novgorod Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged Arnold Shalmuyev, first deputy governor of Novgorod Region with crimes under part 4 of article 159 of the RF Criminal Code, paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 179, part 1 of article 286 (swindling committed by an organized group on an especially large scale, forcing to refuse to conclude a transaction under a threat to spread information which could cause considerable harm to rights and legal interests of the victim or their family, exceeding official powers).

Shalmuyev is questioned at F.P. Gaaz Regional Hospital of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region Prison Administration.

Earlier, on 5 April 2013, Shlmuyev while being questioned as a suspect used 51 article of the RF Constitution and did not confess to the crimes and refused to testify.

Criminal investigation against a number of officials in the area of road building of Novgorod Region administration into misappropriation of federal funds directed on road building, repairs and maintenance is continued.
