Chairman of Russian Investigative Committee met with head of Israel police’s Investigations Division

The Chairman of the Russian Federation Investigative Committee Mr. Alexander Bastrykin met with Head of Israel police’s Investigations Division Mr. Yoav Segalovich. The meeting was attended by Head of Intelligence Department of Israel Mr. R. Ritman, Head of the Department for battling Russian-speaking organized crime Mr. I Shmoish and the representative of the Ministry of Public Security and the Police of Israel in the Russian Federation D. Grunin.

During the meeting Mr. Segalovich expressed gratitude for efficient cooperation between our agencies and expressed hope to continue and extend the cooperation in the area of criminal prosecution between the Police of Israel and Russian Investigative Committee.

Earlier in November 2012, a Memorandum on Cooperation between the Russia’s Investigative Committee and the Police of Israel was signed in Tel-Aviv. Under the memorandum the parties reached an agreement on collaboration in investigating crimes of reciprocal interest; returning from abroad property acquired by criminal activity; investigating crimes connected with illegal transplantation of human organs, and others.

During the constructive dialogue the heads of the two agencies discussed in detail the existing legal mechanisms to fight corruption and other economic crimes. The parties paid special attention to unification of efforts to battle financial crimes connected with money laundering and legalization of profits resulted from crimes.

Mr. Bastrykin noted that the cooperation of the two agencies in certain criminal cases gave positive results, there are, however, cases where cooperation should become more active.

At the end of the meeting the parties expressed their interest in further close cooperation and joint workshops and trainings to work out consolidated algorithm in battling international crimes.
