On investigators’ request court dismisses Yevgeny Urlashov from position of Yaroslavl mayor

Today Basmanny District Court of Moscow reviewed the request of the Central Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee on dismissal of Yevgeny Urlashov from the position of Yaroslavl mayor. The court ruled to dismiss the Yaroslavl mayor from his position until the final procedural decision in the criminal case is made.

We remind that Yevgeny Urlashov and his accomplices Dmitry Donskov, Maxim Poykalaynen, Alexey Lopatin and Andrey Zakharov are charged depending on the role of each one with part 3 of article 30, part 6 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (attempted bribery, part 3 of article 30, part 4 of article 291.1 (attempted mediation in bribery).

The decision to dismiss Urlashov was taken in the first place with the concern of the people of Yaroslavl. This will allow the municipal bodies to appoint an acting mayor, who will be able to carry out functions of the city head in full. In addition, Urlashov will be stripped of an administrative resource in case he intended to put pressure on the investigation.
