Accused of murder of President of Russian Association of Businesswomen to stand trial in Moscow

Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against Lyudmila Kachalova and Yevgeny Chetvertnoy. Depending on the role do each one they are charged with crimes under parts 4 and 5 of article 33, paragraph “h” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (complicity in a murder for hire) and paragraph “h” of part 2 of article 105 (a murder for hire).

According to investigators, in June 2011, Kachalova offered Chetvertnoy to kill President of Russian Association of Businesswomen Tatyana Malyutina for a fee of 50 thousand rubles. Kachalova knew that Malyutina had needed a plumber and forced Chetvertnoy to change into the plumber’s uniform and get into the victim’s flat as a plumber. On 2 July 2011, Chetvertnoy came to Malyutina. He hit Malyutina several times on the head by a screw key in the bathroom and the woman died. Investigators believe that the motive was that Kachalova wanted to replace Malyutina at her position.

Investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore, the case with the approved indictment has been forwarded to the court to be tried on the merits.
