In case the prosecution would be dropped only in part and the criminal case forwarded in Novoshakhtinsk district court of Rostov Region, Peshkov offered to be an intermediary in giving a bribe to an official of the prosecutor’s office of Novoshakhtinsk for assisting in making the court to choose a non-custodial punishment. On 15 December 2011, after having received 1 million rubles as the first part of the bribe, Peshkov was apprehended by law enforcement agents.
