Two criminal cases launched against lawyer Musayev

The main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case against lawyer Murad Musayev and other people over signs of the crime under part 4o article 309 of the RF Penal Code (bribery to witnesses to make them give false testimony, committed by an organized group).

According to investigators in January 2013, lawyer Musayev defending rights and interests of accused Yusup Temerkhanov charged with murder of Yuri Budanov, together with other people some of whom are not identified yet bribed two witnesses to the case. The purpose of the bribery was to make witnesses to give false testimony in the court.

In addition, one more criminal case has been launched against Musayev and other people over the signs of the crime under part 1 of article 294 of the RF Penal Code (interference in any form in the activity of court with the purpose to prevent justice).

According to investigators, from late 2012 to early 2013, Musayev and other people, pursuing an aim of making the jury to acquit Temerkhanov, by requests, persuasion, threats of physical violence and other forms of influence interfered in the activity of the jury, including offering them to refuse from participating in the hearings of the case in Budanov’s murder recommending to plead some sham circumstances.

The abovementioned cases have been filed in a single law suit and the investigation is underway.
