On the order of the Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee the Boeing-737 crash criminal case has been passed on to the Main Investigations Committee for further investigation.

On 18 November 2013, Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin held an operational meeting in Kazan attended by the head of Tatarstan Investigations Directorate, head of Volga Region Transport Investigations Directorate and members of the investigating team.

The meeting heard the information on the progress of investigation into the 17 November Boeing-737 crash at the airport in Kazan. Following the results of the meeting Mr. Bastrykin gave a number of explicit orders on the direction of the investigation and establishing all the circumstances of the crash.

At present the investigators are looking at a failure of machinery, fault of crew and weather conditions as the main versions of the crash. Today the investigators will go on examining the crash scene, where the flight recorders have already been located. The video showing the trajectory of the plane crash has been seized from the CCTV system of the airport and is being studied in detail. The records of conversations between a flight dispatcher and the crew are being seized. The samples of fuel have been seized to check its quality. The forensic expert examinations are already underway and the identification of dead bodies has started.

Of course, the investigators are also going to estimate timeliness, sufficiency and efficiency of oversight over the aircraft operator and completeness of flight safety measures. For that purpose all necessary documents have already been seized from the Tatarstan Airlines and the airport of departure.

At the same time the investigators are waiting for the report of the technical commission of the Interstate Aviation Committee, which will be carefully studied and filed into the case. After the Interstate Aviation Committee has finished working at the scene, the Investigative Committee will run a comprehensive expert examination involving specialists, including those of Boeing company.

Only after all the complex of investigating and procedural operations it will be possible to make final conclusions about the causes of the Boeing-737 crash and guilt of any people.
