Investigators assign 1,000 expert examinations to identify victims of plane crash in Kazan

The investigating bodies of Volga Region Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case into signs of a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety standards for traffic and operation of air transport entailing by negligence death of two or more people) over the Boeing-737 plane crash in Kazan.

Investigators and criminologists of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue to look at the circumstances of the crash round the clock. At present identification of the dead bodies is under way. For that purpose a thousand forensic medical and DNA tests have been assigned and as many are planned to be assigned. In addition DNA samples have been taken from 36 victims’ relatives.

Besides, three CDs have been seized. They contain records of conversation of a flight dispatcher with the crew, record from the monitors of dispatchers and from CCTV cameras. Investigators and experts are going to analyze the records carefully. A forensic chemical expert examination of the fuel, seized from the filling point in Domodedovo, has been assigned. It will be run by the specialists of state civil aviation research institution.

During the examination of the scene, which is still underway, the engine of the jetliner has been extracted from the ground. The investigators have found and seized one of flight recorders and the outer protection box of the second black box, but its insides are yet to be located.

After the investigators get the conclusion of Interstate Aviation Committee, they will decide on forensic technical expert examinations, which will allow making conclusions on the causes of the tragedy. Investigation is ongoing.
