Alexander Bastrykin sends to United States Attorney General official letter requesting to check abuse of rights of 26 children adopted from Russia

Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has sent to the US Attorney General Eric Holder an official letter requesting to check the facts, when the rights of 26 Russian children adopted in the United States were abused. All the facts were reported by news agencies Reuters and NBC in their journalistic investigations. Mr. Bastrykin has also asked to officially send copies of the documents linked to the pre-investigating check into the facts carried out by the Investigative Committee. It concerns Anna Barns (Anna Fayzzulina, born in 1994), Inga Wotcott (Inga Kurasova, born in 1985), Dmitry Stewart and another 23 Russian children.

Expressing readiness and hope for further cooperation, Mr. Bastrykin in his letter stressed that “The Russian Investigative Committee pays special attention to protection of rights and legal interests of children, against whom different crimes have been committed”. The Chairman also reminded that “the issues connected with encroachments in the USA on lives and health of Russian children, adopted by Americans were repeatedly discussed during US-Russia talks on different levels. However, unfortunately, this issue is still relevant”.
