Criminal case launched in human trafficking in USA

The Northwestern Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has carried out a procedural check of the information on transfer of adopted Russian children to other families and abuse of their rights, reported by journalist investigation of Reuters news agency and NBC TV channel. Following the check a criminal case has been launched in signs of the crime under paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 2 of article 127.1 of the RF Penal Code (human trafficking against two or more persons against minors).

Investigators believe that illegal exchanges have been created in the United States on Yahoo and Facebook to carry out illegal transactions in terms of children adopted by American citizens. This way, among others there were deals made over 26 underage citizens of the Russian Federation. Moreover, it has been found that some of those trafficked were sexually exploited.

Although the crime has been committed outside the Russian Federation, it was aimed against Russian citizens. The abovementioned facts will be studies carefully during the probe, during which the bodies of preliminary investigation are going to check if the Russian children were legally given up to U.S. families.

The Russia’s Investigative Committee always pays special attention to protection of children’s rights and their legal interests of children, abused in different ways including outside the Russian Federation.
