During the past 24 hours governors of several of the Russian regions have received threats of violence against them and their families in connection with the situation in Ukraine.

The investigating bodies in Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk and Voronezh regions have launched criminal investigations into signs of crimes under part 1 of article 318 of the RF Penal Code (threats to use force against a representative of the authority or their families due to their official duties).

Namely, the governor of Voronezh Region got an email from unidentified people on behalf of one of Ukraine’s radical right-wing organizations demanding to “publicly reject the Russian President’s actions in Ukraine, resign immediately, and announce that the Voronezh Region intent to join Ukraine or kill himself”. In case of disobedience they threaten to kill the governor. Governors of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions received the same demands and threats.

Despite absurdity, nonsense, not to say foolishness of such demands, the threats are real. Therefore, the Investigative Committee is going to identify the people, who made those threats and prosecute them under the laws of the Russian Federation, of course, after checking their sanity.
