In Sverdlovsk Region director of children’s home charged with abuse of authority

The Sverdlovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged a 54-year-old director of Yekaterinburg children’s home for mentally retarded children with a crime under part 1 of article 285 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of authority).

According to investigators, in the period between August 2011 and April 2014, the accused abused her authority when let on lease flats belonging to the inmates of the children’s home. Namely, acting out of personal interest, she did not put the money from the lease on the account of an inmate, but spent it on the needs of the facility.

In addition, flat of another inmate was used to be rented by a man without any corresponding lease agreement and without his paying any rent. This way, two inmates, who own the flats, suffered damages of 99 thousand rubles.

It should be noted that the crime was revealed during the investigation of another crime opened in early April 2014 under paragraph “d” of part 2 of article 117 of the RF Penal Code (torture of minor) over physical violence used against inmates of the said children’s home. The investigation is ongoing.

In the case over abuse of authority, investigating operations are continued to find out all the circumstances of the crime, gather and consolidate evidence. Investigation is ongoing.
