Investigative Committee sends files on arrest of Igor Kolomoysky to court

The Russia’s Investigative Committee has sent the files on Igor Kolomoysky’s custodial restraint to the court.

Previously the warrant was issued to hold Kolomoysky accountable for organizing a number of crimes: murders, use of illegal means and methods of warfare, preventing professional activities of journalists, abduction (part 3 of article 33, paragraphs “a”, “b”, “f”, “g”, “k” of part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 33, part 1 of article 356, part 3 of article 33, part 3 of article 144, part 3 of article 33, paragraph “a” oа part 3 of part 126 of the RF Penal Code).


As soon as the courts decides on the choice of the restraint, the Investigative Committee will give necessary instructions to corresponding law enforcement bodies to immediately find the location of the accused and to take him into custody.

Also in a short time the Investigative Committee is going to send the files on Arsen Avokov’s arrest to the court.

In addition, during the investigation into the use of illegal means and methods of warfare another participant of military actions against civilians in eastern Ukraine has been identified. According to the information of the Investigative Committee, collected during the investigation, Aydar battalion commander Sergey Melnichuk participated directly in shelling of peaceful areas, when VGTRK journalists Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin were killed.

In the near future, the Investigative Committee will issue a warrant prosecuting Melnichuk as the accused and putting him on a wanted list.

The investigation is ongoing. The investigators are working with the people coming from Ukraine to the Rostov Region, Republic of Crimea, as well as the Belgorod, Voronezh, Bryansk, Kursk and several other regions. So far more than 3,500 people have been questioned as witnesses, 1747 have been found victims.
