In Southern Federal District criminal case against gangsters finished

The Southern Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case Denis Tokarev and Pavel Kharin. Depending on the role of each on in the crimes, they are charged with crimes under parts 1 and 2 of article 209 (banditry), paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 4 of article 162 (robbery), paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 161 of the RF Penal Code (robbery).

According to investigators, Tokarev in late December 2008, acting out of mercenary motives, intending to commit an especially serious crime was involved in a gang in the town of Volzhsky, Volgograd Region, set up and headed by Ostapenko. The main aim of the gang was to assault citizens and organizations to get money. In the period between 30 December 2008 and 20 January 2009, the gang members used a home-made revolver to rob a gold dealer and stole jewelry and money worth in total over 500 thousand rubles and robbed OOO Tsaritsyn Pawn Shop pf jewe;ry and money worth over 300 thousand rubles.

After the attacks Tokarev hid in the Penza Region, but Ostapenko and other gang members were detained by law enforcement officers.

In addition, in 2011, Tokarev set up a gang involving among others Kharin. The gang acted in the Penza, Astrakhan and Volgograd Regions.

In the period between 23 June 2011 and 24 May 2012, Tokarev and his gang, including Kharin, armed with an IZh traumatic pistol, robbed OOO Golden Calf Pawn Shop in Volzhsky of jewelry and money worth about 700 thousand rubles, OOO Center Pawn Shop in Penza of over 700 thousand rubles and OOO Your Reliable Pawn Shop of over 70 thousand rubles. On 13 March 2012, the gang members attacked the office of O.V. Acamenkova, a sole proprietor, and OOO Irina Pawn Shop and robbed them of jewelry and money worth over 1.5 million ruble. In addition, during the robbery of gold dealer Gold Exchange in Volzhsky they stole over 4 million rubles in jewelry and money.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore the criminal case against Tokarev and Kharin has been sent for the indictment to be approved.
