In Kemerovo Region former judge of district court suspected of attempted fraud and organization of bribe

Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee, has initiated a criminal case against former judge of the Central Court in the city of Kemerovo suspected of crimes under part 3 of article 33, part 2 of article 281 of the RF Penal Code (organization of bribe to an official in a considerable amount), part 3 of article 30, part 3 of article 159 (attempted murder).

Earlier judicial criminal board of the RF Supreme Court made a conclusion that the judge’s actions contained signs of the crime.

The Kemerovo Region investigating bodies of the Investigative Committee have accepted the case in their proceedings and are investigating it.

According to investigators, in October 2014, a lawyer applied to the suspect requesting to assist so that one of the judges ruled to his client in a civil action. The suspect persuaded the lawyer that for a fee he personally would settle the matter with the judge. Later he informed that he had settled everything. After that the lawyer gave him the money. It later appeared, that the judge satisfied the plaintiff’s claim without any interference from the suspect.

In April 2014, a court sentenced the former lawyer to a fine.

At present investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime and consolidate the evidence that the person in question was involved in the crime.

The investigation is ongoing.
